A NIGHT WITH FINNEAS AT THE FILLMORE DETROIT

On February 25, the Fillmore Detroit was packed with eager fans ready to experience a night of music as Finneas brought his For Cryin' Out Loud! The Tour to Detroit. The evening began with an energetic performance from indie-rock band Bad Suns, who set the tone for the night with hits like “Cardiac Arrest” and their new single “Communicating.” Their upbeat set and crowd interaction got the audience buzzing for what was to come.


When Finneas finally took the stage, the atmosphere in the Fillmore immediately shifted. The crowd erupted as he started with the opening track “Starfucker” from his new album. His raw, emotional vocals instantly captivated the audience. He effortlessly switched between guitar and piano, his musicianship on full display throughout the set.

The night featured a perfect mix of heartfelt ballads and upbeat, groovy tracks. Songs like “Let’s Fall in Love for the Night” and title track “For Cryin’ Out Loud!” had the crowd singing along in unison, while more intimate moments like “Family Feud,” dedicated to his sister Billie, and “Till Forever Falls Apart,” where Finneas sang alongside keys player Lucy Healey, showcasing his vulnerability and friendship with band mates.

Finneas’s stage presence was captivating. His quiet humility and authenticity shone through, even in a sold-out venue. Between songs, he shared personal stories and jokes with the crowd, making it feel like an intimate performance. At one point, he laughed when a fan handed him a stuffed animal of himself, saying, "You even gave him the fuck ass bob." His ability to connect with the audience in such a genuine way made the large venue feel small and personal. Finneas also made sure to throw in personal touches when singing “Little Window” changing the lyrics to “Detroit, im seeing signs everywhere, all the time” moments like this really got the crowd going and showcased his appreciation to the fans in Detroit.


The minimalist lighting matched the mood of each song, creating an immersive atmosphere that added to the emotional depth of the show. A surprise cover of “Time of the Season” by The Zombies had the crowd singing along, proving the power of live music.
