BEDROOM DIVISION SECURES NEW SOUND IN LATEST RELEASE “CONFIDENT”
With a drink in one hand and effortless production in the other, Bedroom Division’s “Confident” groovily captures the art of liquid courage. The track stands as an anthem for those who know the feeling of stalling at the bar all too well.
Based out of Greensboro, North Carolina, Dylan Wishon creates under the moniker Bedroom Division — the perfect self-given sobriquet for Wishon’s indie bedroom-pop sound. Unlike the rest of the songs in the Bedroom Division discography, “Confident” wasn’t produced by Wishon, but rather by singer/songwriter/producer/self-proclaimed Duolingo master William Hinson. The single leans more pop-y than previous Bedroom Division releases, and it totally works.
“For ‘Confident,’ I originally recorded a demo, well, I thought it was actually finished, but I brought it to my buddy William Hinson; it’s pretty similar to the original version I recorded, but he added his special William Hinson sauce to it,” said Wishon in an interview with Disaster.
The single finds synergy between Bedroom Division’s signature mellow vocals and lively instrumentals; there’s more where that came from. The track is one of many to come off of Wishon’s anticipated sophomore album. The new record is in the works, with promises of more Hinson production and inspiration from industry disruptors Djo and Chappell Roan. Wishon and Hinson are taking their time with the new record, polishing every aspect of it, and plan to release another single in the coming months.
The tonal shift from previous Bedroom Division releases to “Confident” is fresh and transformative, setting the foundation for an exciting new era of music. Fans can catch Bedroom Division and hear “Confident” live at upcoming shows at Tate Street Festival, the Flat Iron, NC Unplugged and a Halloween extravaganza at Hoots Beer Co. (costumes encouraged).
