KEVIAN KRAEMER: “BUDDY” AND BEYOND
Kevian Kraemer is an artist that has been featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist, and taken place in New York City’s Anti-Social Producers Club. He just so happens to live in our backyard, Ocean Grove, New Jersey.
Kraemer started out by posting covers of popular bedroom-pop artists on his Instagram (@keviankraemer) gaining upwards of 10,000 views on every video, until a cover of Swing Lynn’s “Harmless” exploded, 3.3 million views exploded, and pushed him to start putting out his own music.
His first release, Rug, helped him muster the confidence needed to put what was in his heart out in the form of music.
“I began to understand the impact that music can have on people,” Kraemer explained. “I wanted to be a person that could make people feel things through song. I’m working every day to do that.”
“Rug” however, is not the record Kramer is most proud of. In single “Sweater”, the narrator tells the story of a girl they’ve fallen for, that is hung up on their ex. On June 9, just under a year after the song was first released, “Sweater” became Kraemer’s first song to amass 1 million streams.
“It’s the most interesting song I’ve released so far,” Kraemer said. “It just hit 1 million streams which is absolutely insane to me.”
Although Kevian might be getting ready for college, his loyal fanbase shall not fret – we won’t be seeing the last of him any time soon. In fact, he says to prepare, because he’s just getting started.
“This next release is going to be a perfect representation of everything I’ve been working on as an artist,” Kraemer expressed. “It’s going to be a new sound for me, and I think that it’s going to open doors for me that I never thought were possible.”
His goals for the future include yes, getting into college like most other kids his age, but also things other teenagers only dream of: opening for a major act before twenty, pursuing music full time, and having his other songs reach the million streams mark.
His ultimate dream?
“It would be amazing if I could one day play Madison Square Garden,” Kraemer stated.
