DORA JAR IS WATCHING HER WACKY WORLD COME TO LIFE

First the release of her album “No Way To Relax When You're On Fire ”, and now a full fledged North American tour, there's just no stopping Dora Jar. The wildly vibrant and versatile album encapsulates how Dora feels when she's on such a high during tour and recording season.

Dora Jar has made herself very prevalent in the world of indie rock after opening for Billie Ellish on “Happier Than Ever, The World Tour” in 2022, and various other bands like The Neighbourhood, and The 1975. Jar released a plethora of singles between 2021-2022, and album “Digital Meadow” in 2021, but this new work is by far her favorite and most truthful.

In speaking with Dora Jar, she talked solely about her various inspirations, ranging from Mary Poppins to a potato sack. The Bedroom-pop artists took her signature nostalgic approach with this album, incorporating elements of childhood cartoons (especially Debbie Darling), and blurring the line between indie and theatrical. Jar took lots of inspiration from musical prodigy Stephen Sondhiem – so much so that she dreams of writing her own musical one day.

Jar stated that she wants her album to feel like a “funhouse” -- all the rooms (songs) should be different but all fit together in the same house. She uses a variety of different instruments and styles in her songs, ranging not only from song to song, but within songs themselves. This is captured in the contrast between the raw guitar and piano sounds against the angelic chorus in Debbie Darling, to the techno EDM sounds of Smoke Out the Window. She wanted this album to have extreme variety to encapsulate her ever changing mood, not only through the varying sounds, but the album’s overarching driving question “Who am I?”.

In order to create and produce versatile songs, her writing process is somewhat complicated. She explains the feeling as “dying in a video game over and over again until you finally figure out how to make it out.” In order to strengthen her visions, creativity and also keep herself focused she utilizes a lot of meditation.

While she has lots of experience touring, she believes that her stage presence and theatrics are truly evolving on the “Behind the Curtain Tour”. Jar utilizes different textures and colors in her stage set up to create the feeling of an alternate dimension. She feels a passionate connection between herself and the audience now more than she ever has before, making the tour unforgettable for both sides.

Dora Jars imaginative personality combined with her undeniable lyricism makes for an album full of beautiful songs that showcase every part of her mind.
