SCXTTY DOESN’T JUST WRITE SAD SONGS

Scotty Buksbaum is having a mid 20s life crisis.

The trials and tribulations of moving, working, living and loving sit steadily on his shoulders, but with the help of songwriting he gets by. For the past three years Buksbaum has put out music under the moniker Scxtty — with a new single today he is waving his life into a new era. Surprisingly, a happy one.

“Someone told me a couple months ago, that all I do is write breakup songs, so I was like alright, might as well take a spin at a happy love song,” he shares. “With what music that’s coming out now, it's very much towards this  Del Water Gap, Alexander 23, Jeremy Zucker vibe, that type of ballgame.”

Buksbaum nailed his sonic goals on “Summer Doesn’t Feel Right Without You.” A dry, comforting guitar line and a simple yet solid drumbeat carry his vocals through the airy bop.

With the new era ahead Buksbaum is here to say that there are two sides to every story, and a start and end to every relationship. Although he is trying to live his life in the moment, as a songwriter and hopeless romantic he can’t help but think ahead. Time and time again he has watched life come full circle, with everything being connected — something he knows all too well from growing up in small communities throughout New Jersey.

“I’ve written a lot about places in New Jersey, where I've had significant events happen in my life, especially because a lot of what I write is relationship based,” says the New Jersey native. “Like one song I have I mentioned the Rum Runner which is in Highlands, because like that was like a big spot for a good date and then after a breakup it was tied to that person.”

This song is so much more than a single release to him – it’s a bridge connecting his fans to the next chapter of his life. He’s hopeful that they will stick it out as he changes sonically to reflect his personal growth, as he opens up more than ever and puts out his favorite songs yet.

While he isn’t ready to share what’s ahead quite yet, he gave some insight on his creative process for “Summer Doesn’t Feel Right Without You” and beyond:

“One day I'd write this one song, and then the next day something would happen in my life, so like I would write the spin off of it,” while he isn’t ready to share what’s ahead quite yet, “everything just happened to work really well together, and now all the sounds are very tight knit. So I’m very excited.”
